DIXON HIGHLAND GAMES (24 September 2005) Demonstration Matches on the Rugby/Shinty field (Dixon, California)

WE CLOSE OUR SEASON WITH THE DIXON SCOTTISH GAMES! The Northern California Camanachd Club (NCCC) finished its 2005 Highland Games season with a successful appearance at the Dixon Scottish Games in Dixon California (a little over an hour north-east of San Francisco). We played warm-up halves early in the day preceding the Opening Ceremonies, and a full match during an early afternoon break in rugby. We played a competitive match won eventually by the Cabarfeidh squad (white/blue/grey hoops) by a score of 3 - 2. The NCCC has appeared at five Scottish Games this year, working hard to give attendees a chance to see shinty and learn something of its rules and history. In addition the NCCC played the first match between a US and Scottish side during their September visit to Scotland (for more details go here. All in all not a bad way to fill out our fifth year!
