SHINTY WORKSHOP WITH GARY INNES (17 June 2007)
Woodside, California

Following our great day in Campbell, Fort William's Gary Innes led a shinty workshop on a nearby turf field. He spent time going over various skills and basics as well as covering some of the strategic aspects of the game. It was very interesting playing on the turf as if allowed us to work on some of our stick skills in ways that our usual grass fields do not really allow... we have continued to use turf for some of our training for just this reason. We closed the day with a scrimmage and everyone tried to put our new found knowledge into use - a photo gallery can be found here!

The day was quite warm and we experienced one of the downsides of artificial turf fields... they get really hot! But the end everyone was ready for some food and drink. Luckily a nearby Mexican joint provided both at close hand... ah, that first margarita!
